Trained as a Chemical Engineer at the National Institute of Industrial Chemistry in Rouen
(France), Luc Vandewalle obtained a PHD in Physical Chemistry at the Pierre & Marie Curie
University in Paris. He worked for 24 years as Plant Director, Logistics Director Europe and
General Manager of the Central Europe area for an a leading provider of branded, designed
surfacing solutions for commercial and residential customers worldwide, the world’s largest
manufacturer of High Pressure Laminate (Formica Corporation). Luc Vandewalle then worked in
the Surface Treatment Industry in sales development functions in the competitive market for
epoxy and polyester powder coating and carried out an industrial optimization project for
production lines of metal ventilation ducts.
Luc Vandewalle then worked in a subsidiary of the Air Liquide group, specialized in the
manufacturing of welding and cutting technologies, as Purchasing and Supply Chain Director,
and set up a Corporate Supply Chain organization as well as an optimized European logistics
network.
He then devoted his last 10 years to the development of clean mobility in Europe. He was
appointed Managing Director of a “Joint Venture” created between Air Liquide (France) and
Plug Power Inc., an American company based in Latham (NY), with the objective of developing
the fuel cell market for material handling applications in Europe.
He continued this approach by developing Biomethane clean mobility in Europe, ensuring the
development of Biogas activities, and more particularly targeted the downstream part and
Transportation sector. Luc Vandewalle has built for the Air Liquide Group a network of 25
Multi energy stations in France dedicated to Transport of Goods, delivering alternative
energies to Diesel, compressed, liquefied Biomethane, and nitrogen, a clean and silent
cryogenic alternative for refrigerated transport Market.
